Chinon Parchment
The Chinon Scroll is a historical document, published by Étienne Baluze during the 17th century, in the work Vitae Paparum Avenionensis ("The Life of the Popes of Avignon"). This document was recently famous for the discovery of Dr. Barbara Frale, that Pope Clement V intended to acquit the last Grand Master Jacques de Molay, and the other leaders of the Knights Templar, in 1308, of the accusations made by the Inquisition.
The scroll is dated in "Chinon, from seventeen to 20 August 1308" and the Holy See has an authenticated copy with the reference number "Archivum Arcis Armarium D 218", and the original scroll with the reference "D 217".
