✠ Description of the Order | Order of the Temple in Spain – Knights Templar SOMECT
The Sovereign Spanish Magistral Order of the Knights Templar (Somect) is a Templar order based on the principles and foundations of those who gave their lives and their faith to leave a profound mark on the history of military orders.
Of course, although we maintain the fundamental principles of the Order of the Temple, we are not unaware that today we live in the 21st century, and if we want to move forward, we must adapt to this era, without losing the values that made the Order of the Temple famous, such as Honour, Dignity, Justice, Respect and Faith, values that are unfortunately very difficult to find today.
That is why I encourage all those people, women and men, and especially young people who are attracted to these values and to military orders, to place their trust in our Order and join us in helping society to improve, always maintaining the values we have indicated above.
Bearing in mind that the Temple has always been a military order and that this must be maintained. Because if that were to disappear, the Temple would lose its identity and cease to be the Temple, becoming something different.

On 9 October, the investiture of Knights and Dames of the Order of Calatrava was held at Calatrava Castle, attended by more than five Military Orders participating in the ceremony, including SOMECT, the Templar Order.
We hope that in the coming years all the Military Orders of Spain will be twinned, in order to improve relations between them and strengthen them.

RECOGNITION OF THE ORDER
Vatican Note 25/10/2018 ‘The Vatican recognises the Knights Templar’ as Independent Sovereigns not affiliated with any ecclesiastical hierarchy, having a direct relationship with His Holiness.
COOPERATION AND ALLIANCE AGREEMENT
On 15 December 2018, a bilateral cooperation and alliance agreement was signed between the International Templar Assembly (AIT) and the Templar Organisation SOMECT.

This will be the new headquarters of the Spanish Magistral Order of the Knights Templar (SOMECT) in the town of Dos Barrios, in the province of Toledo.
A headquarters to serve as the hub of the Order and a symbol of our SOMECT Order in architectural terms.
